Level 1 - Communication and Recording (3 hours)

Aims and Outcomes

This course is suitable for all delegates working within the voluntary and independent sector, supporting 'Adults at Risk of Harm' (formerly Vulnerable Adults), in a range of settings.

Delegates must have attended Level 1 Recognising Adult Abuse (provided in the following formats: Face to Face training session, Cascade training session or Workbook)

Target Group:

  • Anyone advocating, supporting, caring or working with an adult at risk of harm.

  • Working in the independent and voluntary sector.

  • Need to meet various standards/qualifications/continual professional development .

Aims:

To understand why effective communication is important within the work setting, providing an awareness at an introductory level, using power points, case studies, group work and an opportunity for questions/discussions in relation to the following:-

Content:

  • Consider good practice and barrier to effective communication.

  • Review your listening, responding and reflection skills.

  • Explore the principles of accurate record keeping.

  • Link the importance of effective communication and recording to keeping everyone safe, including you.

Outcomes:

Recognise the importance of effective communication in practice, underpinning knowledge, good principles and skills.
